Like devieus said I don't really use VTFedit for compiling either, just for viewing. (I have been mapping for many years and I very am familiar with how vtex works in Source2006, 2007, 2009 and MP) The default directory in CSGO is **sdk\_content/materials**, given there is no reason for this folder to even exist if you don't use vtex, I assumed that that is the one that is supposed to work for compiling textures. > And why are you using vtex? VTFEdit is more friendly, flexible and has a bigger scope of usefulness :) (For instance, placing the image in a materialsrc/metal/ subfolder, will make Vtex compile the texture to the materials/metal/ subfolder.) You can also place the image within a subfolder of this folder, to make Vtex compile the texture to the corresponding materials/ subfolder. > Place the targa image to be converted inside the SteamApps/username/sourcesdk_content/gamefolder/materialsrc/ folder, where gamefolder is the game folder of the current game (cstrike/dod/hl2/hl2mp/tf). Since the CSGO SDK works in a similar way to Source SDK, vtex NEEDS "materialsrc" folder to properly run.
